Welcome to the Enterprise Department Coombabah State High School. The department encompasses the subject areas (disciplines) of Business Education and Home Economics. Business Education Studies. Home Economics focuses on the well-being of individuals and families in everyday situations.
YEAR 8 Home Economics- Students study one semester of Home Economics. The course is divided into two sections incorporating Food Technology and Textile Technology. Both areas have been designed to provide students with basic life skills in regard to food preparation and textiles.
YEAR 9 (2 lessons per week)
Business Studies- Is designed around Level 4 to 6 outcomes. Students undertake business ventures and gain an understanding of the business world.
Digital Business-Has been designed to cater for students interested in both business and information technologies.
Home Economics- This course is divided into two sections. One semester students study textile technology and make garments and the other semester relates to Food and Nutrition.
Food Studies- This is based around the study of Food and Nutrition and students complete practical cookery over the entire year.
Creative Textiles- Students selecting this subject will gain a good understanding of the fashion industry and be expected to make a variety of textile products.
YEAR 10 (All subjects increase to three lessons per week)
Business Studies-Is a transition year to senior business subjects. Students learn the basics of Accounting, Legal Studies and Business Communication and Technologies.
Digital Business- Students expand their knowledge of the business world through extension exercises and skill development on various business technologies and programs.
Home Economics, Food Studies and Creative Textiles- Further development of skills and knowledge in these areas for senior subjects and specific pathways e.g. Hospitality-chef
YEAR 11& 12 Students can choose from a variety of subjects including Authority subjects, as well as stand alone VTE courses. All courses are of two year duration.
