Welcome to the Technology Department at Coombabah State High School.
Technology in our Department encompasses the study of products, processes, tools and equipment.
The department offers a selection of subjects that cater for a wide range of student interest and abilities. Students will find the subjects challenging and interesting. In the practical subjects, student are exposed to intellectual challenges in the form of designing and researching while practical skills are developed using a wide range of tools and machines. Safety is an important aspect of all courses.
Students also learn about work as they mirror, in a broad sense, workplace practices such as working cooperatively in teams and responding to technological change.
Year 8 Students study one semester of Manual Arts. One lesson
a week is devoted to Graphics and one is spent in the workshop
on Shop A or Shop B.
Year 9 & 10 Students may choose from three subjects – Graphics, Shop A
and Shop B. It is advisable to choose Junior Graphics if there
is a possibility that it will be selected in years 11 and 12.
Year 11 & 12 Students may choose from the following subjects. All courses
are of a two year duration.
Category A Graphics
Technology Studies
Category B Industrial Skills Practical Application
Marine and Aquatic Practices
VTE Industrial Skills Building and Construction
