P&C SHOP - Uniform

My name is Naomi Ruston, and I am the manager of the P&C shop here at Coombabah State High School. Over the past couple of years in the shop I have introduced a mending service, as well as adding a belt and ladies black tights to the uniform list. As well as Uniforms, the P&C shop stocks small amounts of stationary for purchase by students. If you have any questions, or need information about uniforms, please drop in, or call the P&C shop, I’m happy to help in any way I can.

UNIFORM POLICY

Our School community fully supports the wearing of school uniform. The uniform is endorsed by the school’s Parents and Citizens Association and through State Legislation (EGPA 2006).

A school uniform helps in achieving the School’s identity, cohesion, tone, pride and spirit.
  • Wearing a combination of day uniform and sport uniform is NOT permitted.
  • Any vests/singlets worn underneath the school shirt/blouse must be white in colour.
  • The skirt is designed to be worn so that the hem is to the top of the kneecap – hemming is NOT appropriate.
  • When a tie is worn with the Boys uniform shirts MUST be tucked in.
  • Students, who on religious grounds wear additional body covering, must ensure that it is in plain black, white, navy blue or grey.
  • Shoes are to be BLACK (and if laced, these must also be black), enclosed and appropriate for school wear. They may only be used for physical activity if appropriate for such use.
  • Workplace Health and Safety requirements prohibit the wearing of open footwear such as thongs and also canvas/fabric footwear. Students wearing such footwear may be required to remain in the Planning Centre for the day or return home.
  • Winter options are the School black pullover and/or the School black vest and/or the School jacket. No other tops are permissible.
  • Hats/caps without offensive logos/slogans are permitted. Beanies are NOT permitted.
  • Plain white socks are worn with both day and sports uniform.
  • ‘Rugger’ shorts are NOT permitted.
  • Hair must be clean, neat and a natural colour. Styles should be appropriate to school, ie. not designed to attract undue attention due to their unusual nature, (such as razor patterns). PLEASE NOTE: Students’ hair should be tied back for practical subjects such as Home Economics, Industrial Technology, Art and Physical Education.
  • Make-up, including coloured nail polish, is not permitted.
  • Students must not wear jewellery except for a watch, a signet ring, one pair of studs or sleepers and a fine gold or silver chain. All body piercing must be removed or covered up with an opaque, preferably flesh coloured material. The wearing of jewellery which has a religious significance and which is outside of the uniform policy must be discussed with the Administration.
  • Belts if worn, need to be a plain, dark colour that complements the shorts. The buckle must be appropriate for school wear.

PLEASE NOTE:

  1. Year Coordinators will assess the standard of any non-uniform attire and where it is deemed unacceptable the students will be instructed to report to the Administration where they will be expected to change into a spare uniform provided for that purpose for the duration of the school day.
  2. Non-acceptable clothing will remain in Administration until the borrowed uniform is laundered and returned.
  3. If due to unforeseen circumstances a student is unable to wear the correct uniform for a prolonged period of time, the Year Coordinator must be contacted for alternative arrangements.

IMPORTANT NOTES ON THE SCHOOL UNIFORM

Full sports uniform is to be worn when students are involved in scheduled physical activity such as Core Physical Education, Health and Physical Education practical lessons and Sport.
