Senior Schooling
Designing your future through Years 10, 11 and 12
Senior Secondary Overview
Senior Secondary refers to the education of students in Years 10, 11 and 12. We believe the senior years should provide the opportunities, experiences and skills to enable students to design their future, and to be successful and connected members of society.
Students in our Senior School are supported by our Senior Schooling Team encompassing a Head of Department, Year Level Deans, Guidance Officer, Industry Liaison Officer and other support personnel from external agencies.
Senior Pathways
We offer a flexible Senior curriculum, where students have many different pathways and options available to them. All students select a suite of subjects to support the QCE. Students in Year 10 will begin to decide their pathway through to Years 11 and 12.
University Pathway
Students study a combination of General subjects to gain an ATAR, which is used for direct entry into university.
Blended University Pathway
Students complete the subjects required for university entry while also gaining a Vocational Education and Training (VET) qualification, providing an alternative entry pathway into their chosen university course.
Trade Pathway
Students work towards an apprenticeship or traineeship by completing Applied subjects alongside VET qualifications that build industry skills and connections.
Work-Ready Pathway
Students focus on Applied subjects, VET qualifications, and workplace learning to develop the practical skills and experience needed to enter the workforce after Year 12.
Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
The Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) is the qualification students work towards in their senior years of schooling. It is awarded to students who successfully complete a set amount of learning, at the required standard, in Years 10, 11 and 12.
The QCE recognises a broad range of learning, including General and Applied subjects, VET (Vocational Education and Training) qualifications, and workplace learning. For Year 10 students, the QCE is introduced through career planning and SET Plan interviews, helping them choose pathways that count towards their certificate in Years 11 and 12.
We have a dedicated staff member who will track your child's QCE across Years 11 and 12 and work with them to develop a success plan.
AARA - Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments
We are committed to reducing barriers to success for all students. Access Arrangements and Reasonable Adjustments (AARA) are actions taken by the school to minimise, as much as possible, barriers for a student whose disability, impairment, medical condition or other circumstances may affect their ability to read, respond to or participate in assessment.
