Year 7 and 8
We focus on developing student's knowledge and understanding of Health and Physical Education.
Students will study puberty, nutrition, relationships, basic principles of training and drug and alcohol awareness in two theory lessons a week.
They will also participate in two practical lessons a week where they will learn the fundamental skills of various racquet sports, invasion games and athletic events.
Year 9
Students can choose to participate in Health and Physical Education for either one Semester or as a whole year subject.
Students will spend two theory lessons a week covering topics such as nutrition, health and well being, relationships drug and alcohol awareness and participate in two lessons a week of practical physical education in a range of different sports.
Year 10
Students who take one semester of Core Health and Physical Education or a full year Health and Physical Education will undertake study to prepare them for Sport and Recreation in Senior.
Students wishing to undertake ATAR Physical Education in Year 11 and 12 will complete the Sport and Exercise Science extension elective subjects available in Year 10 that include Health and Physical Education, Sport Excellence and Rugby League Excellence.
Year 11 and 12
Students may choose from a variety of options that best serve their individual needs.
ATAR eligible students will undertake Senior Physical Education, non ATAR students can choose to do Sport and Recreation.
Entry into Sport and Recreation – Rugby League is by application only.
Coombabah State high school participates in the Northern Interschool sports cluster and offers students the opportunity to represent the Broadwater District and South Coast region in a range of different sports. The South Coast School Sport website provides further information on this.
