Vocational Education & Training

National recognised qualifications for Years 10, 11 and 12

Vocational Education & Training at Coombabah State High School

Coombabah State High School offers a range of nationally recognised VET qualifications that students in Years 10, 11 and 12 have the opportunity to study.

What is VET?

VET stands for Vocational Education and Training.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) is education and training that focuses on providing skills for work.

VET refers to education and training that provides the practical skills and knowledge students need to:

  • Join the workforce for the first time
  • Re-join the workforce after a break
  • Enter tertiary study

A VET course is a great way to fast track students' careers or education in fields like Business, Health services, and Hospitality.

Why Study VET?

VET is an excellent choice of study for many students. It includes practical, hands-on learning, and it can contribute to excellent career pathways in a variety of fields.

Studying VET whilst at school may provide students with a head start on a qualification, which is a great way to fast-track their progress towards a rewarding career whilst also developing their independence and time-management skills.

School students participating in a VET course may:

  • Provide credit towards students' Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE)
  • Contribute to the calculation of students' tertiary selection rank
  • Support students' transition to employment, vocational and higher education
