Students with Diverse Needs
Fostering an inclusive learning environment for every student
Our Commitment to Inclusion
At Coombabah State High School, we are committed to fostering an inclusive learning environment that supports the diverse needs of our students. Our Inclusive Learning Team—comprising specialist teachers, support staff, and key resources—works collaboratively to ensure every student has access to quality education tailored to their individual needs.
Disability Areas We Support
Our inclusive education program supports students across a range of disability areas, including:
- Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Hearing Impairment
- Intellectual Disability
- Physical Impairment
- Speech-Language Impairment
- Vision Impairment
We also provide specialised support for students with multiple disabilities, aligning with the Education Adjustment Program.
Personalised Learning and Support
Dedicated student support liaison
Each student with a disability is assigned a dedicated student support liaison who works closely with parents, guardians, and stakeholders. These liaisons collaborate with classroom teachers to develop personalised learning plans and ensure curriculum access at the student's current working level.
Individual Curriculum Plans (ICP)
Where necessary, students receive modified curriculum and assessments, documented through an Individual Curriculum Plan (ICP), created in consultation with families and support networks.
Inclusive classroom settings
Students with disabilities participate in regular classroom settings, with adjustments made to support their learning and engagement. Additional support is available through Advisory Visiting Teachers in areas such as hearing, vision, and physical impairment, as well as regular visits from a Speech and Language Pathologist.
Our Belief
At Coombabah SHS, we believe every student deserves to feel supported, included, and empowered to reach their full potential.
