Science at Coombabah is delivered through an inquiry focused approach where students have the opportunity to investigate Science's contribution to our culture and society, and its application in our daily lives.
Investigations and inquiry in junior science covers the elements of Biology, Physics, Chemistry and Earth Science.
The importance of exploring real-life applications of science is realised through students participating in events such as:
Visiting Numimbah Valley Environmental Education Centre,
Traditional Owners use of the land incursion and
Science on the Go presentations.
Classes also have an innovative and engaging focus incorporating STEM principles of technology and engineering within their investigations.
Students electing to study Science in the senior years can select from the following General (ATAR) subjects: Biology, Chemistry or Physics.
All students have the opportunity to be involved in our extracurricular STEAM programs including Griffith University STEM Ambassadors and the UQ Science Ambassador programs.
Additional extra-curricular science events throughout the year include:
STEM Ambassadors Conference
National Science Week
ICAS Science Competition
RACI National Crystal Growing Competition
STEM Horizon Science Camps
Cutting Edge for Kids Conference
